Cherokee County Teacher of the Month - February 2020

Alabama Teachers Credit Union is proud to present Mrs. Felisha Cleland, 7th-12th grade Math Teacher at Sand Rock High School as our February 2020 Teacher of the Month for the Cherokee County area, in partnership with WEIS Radio!
Mrs. Cleland was inspired to become a teacher while in high school through supportive, caring teachers that held her to a high standard. This has influenced her to be that type of an positive example for her students.
The most rewarding part of her job is when she inspires confidence and hears from her students that they now "love math" whereas they"hated it before." Mrs. Cleland makes learning fun by incorporating projects and making the students feel comfortable in a fun light-hearted environment. She believes one of the biggest challenges that teachers face today revolves around trying to meet all the emotional and educational needs of every student walking into the classroom on a daily basis.
She is thankful for a very involved community including an excellent PTSO that goes above and beyond in supporting teachers and students. She also would like to encourage anyone who would like to get involved to join the PTSO.
