Community Hero: DeKalb County

During challenging times, or even in day to day life, ordinary people are stepping up in extraordinary ways to give back to the places they call home. ATCU knows we're at our best when we #givetogether and we’re proud to share efforts that strengthen and uplift the communities so important to our mission.

Our Community Hero award was created to shed light on all the positive things happening right now in Northeast Alabama. In addition to these highlights, Alabama Teachers also gifts our recipients in recognition of their heroic efforts.

In partnership with Southern Torch, our Community Hero for the DeKalb County area for the 3nd quarter is Mr. Terrell Davis. Throughout the school year, Terrell is a dedicated educator at Fort Payne High School, and in the summers when he isn't teaching, he serves as a police officer for the City of Fort Payne.

When asked why he wanted to become a teacher and police officer, he answered that his Mom, a former teacher, always encouraged him to give back to his community.

Mr. Davis is the definition of a public servant, and we are honored to work with him in the summers when he helps out as a security officer at our Fort Payne Branch! Thank you, Terrell, for all you do! Your commitment to your students and your surrounding community does not go unnoticed.
